Christmas Joy Offering

Each year during the Advent and Christmas season, we lift up past, present, and our future leaders of the church.

God has blessed the Church with incredible leadership in every time and place, but those leaders often need to be supported by their communities as well. This Offering addresses the support needed by some of our leaders, including supporting leadership development for communities of color, and providing support for Presbyterian church workers in their time of need.

Our gifts to the Christmas Joy Offering will combine with others from congregations throughout our denomination to do our part to repair the world and ensure that every person — whether they be a high schooler, college student or church worker — has the tools they need to flourish. Your gifts prepare the way for the God we know in Jesus Christ, the child whose birth we will celebrate soon. Thank you for all the ways that you give.

Previous Mission Projects

SEPTEMBER 2024

Our Sunday School got us started with their “BEE KIND” focus in 2021-22.  That led us to contributing locally as well as globally, not only helping youth and family, but also helping our pollinators, the bees, who help us grow our foods.  We contributed $240 to a Presbyterian Giving opportunity to help a Central American farm family.  They received a Bee Kit to help with pollinating their crops and providing them with extra income by selling the honey.

Locally, we learned we could help the DB&GR by selling honey.  We could share their message and donate to their program.   We joined their Honey Sunday campaign and were able to send them $295 (70%) of the sales and use $135 (30%) to add to our own funds for local youth and family concerns.  We also helped ourselves by learning about food resources and support of our environment through pollination.

We started the church project of building a small pollinator garden by our church sign in 2022.  The garden is named “Brodie’s Bees” in memory of a church youth member related to the Deeton family.  The garden is also dedicated to the memory of Freemont Pender, a long-standing church elder who was actively involved in caring for our buildings and grounds.  We have kept the garden growing and it is beautiful.

So, we the Mission Team want to continue helping the youth in our Presbytery through support of DB&GR and our local youth through food pantry, school, and response to other needs.  Through your help we can.   Please watch for more information and plan for our Honey Sunday Dedication in September.
